-Upgrades to lighting in bedrooms, bathrooms & communal areas

The TRADITIONAL RIAD LAYOUT focuses on the internal courtyard with the absence of external windows. This helps to cool the internal rooms in summer and preserve the heat in winter.

The absence of external windows does however impact on the overall lighting within the rooms. Guests generally appreciate the romantic and sensual lighting we have provided within the riad, but we have had feedback from a few who found it difficult in some bathrooms to apply make-up, or to read at night. Consequently we have upgraded the lighting in all the bedrooms, bathrooms & lounges.

Bathrooms have had additional corner uplights added, with directional spotlights in strategic places.

Plaster Carvings have always been a key element of Moroccan Architecture. Some of the best examples of plaster work can be seen in these Images of Musee de Marrakech

The art of carved plaster is still practiced throughout Morocco. In the main salon and the music room we decided to add corner uplights crafted from traditional Moroccan carved plaster to complement the existing cornices.

Although the whole project took a lot of work and created significant upheaval (see left!) we are delighted with the results and we are sure all our future guests will appreciate the results.
